The European Games in Krakow give Italia Team the first Olympic card for men’s trap. The merit goes to Mauro De Filippis, gold medallist at the Wroclaw Shooting Centre.

In Poland, the Italian shooter had already shown encouraging signs in the two qualifying segments, which ended in third place thanks to a score of 123/125. The Taranto-born shooter, who was included in the first of the two ranking matches, went on to secure a spot in the gold medal match thanks to his second place (20/25).

In the final showdown, De Filippis led splendidly until the final head-to-head with Vladimir Stepan. The tension did not prevent the Italian from finishing the event in top spot with a total of 32/35. Silver went to the Czech (31/35), while Sweden’s Richard Rickard Ulf Sig Levin Andersson had to settle for bronze (22/25).
