Second Olympic quota spot won by an Italian modern pentathlete for the Paris 2024 Games.

After Elena Micheli, winner of the World Cup final in Ankara and therefore certain of a place at the next Olympics, it was the turn of Alice Sotero to secure her pass for the French event.

The 32-year-old from Asti (seventh at Rio 2016 and fourth at Tokyo 2020) qualified for the final of the European Games in Krakow along with 17 other athletes (including Micheli herself), representing eight countries. This means that the best placed from each national team will claim an Olympic quota place. As Micheli has already achieved the goal, no challenger will be able to deprive Sotero (photo European Games Krakow-Malopolska 2023) of the Olympic pass.

This is Italia Team’s ninth Olympic card for Paris 2024 (seven nation places and the two individual passes mentioned above), the third won at the 2023 European Games after those of Martina Bartolomei (shooting) and Chiara Pellacani (diving)

Whichever way the final at the AWF Sports Centre in Krakow goes, Alice Sotero is sure of one thing: she will be there at the Olympics, the third of her career.
