Biography
Of all nature’s elements, water has always brought out the best in him. Embarking on swimming at a tender age, he swiftly acquired the nickname “Rocket” – a bit of a cliche, but one that aptly captures his prowess in the pool. He made it to the national team in 2015 and the medley events helped him display his power in the best possible way. At the Settecolli in 2020, he beat Alessio Boggiatto’s 2009 Italian record in the 200m medley. That achievement allowed him to snatch a pass for the 2020 Tokyo Games, improving the national record at the April Championships in Riccione. Two world medals and five European stand out in his trophy cabinet, including a gold in Rome in 2022 in the 400m medley. In November 2023 he beat his own record in the shorter distance, earning an individual Olympic pass for Paris 2024. He studies engineering and, like all proud Genoese, is a big Genoa fan and loves any dish that contains pesto. His other great passions are cars, Ducati and Valentino Rossi, his idol since childhood.
