Biography
He loves Varese Basketball, his hometown team, and as a child, following in his father's footsteps, he embarked on a basketball career. In the end he chose the water, deciding to carry all the glories and disappointments on his shoulders. He specialised in short-distance breaststroke, the discipline that, more than any other, allows him to give free rein to his characteristics. His brilliance and explosiveness led him to win both the European and world titles in the 100 metres, as well as the unforgettable Olympic bronze medal in Tokyo 2020. In his spare time, he loves to go shopping or have an aperitif in the company of his friends. Before a competition, however, he concentrates on listening to music. But on the starting blocks he prefers the silence around him. One day, he would like to take care of the jewellery his father Samuele handles in the family’s goldsmith studio. For the moment, however, the only precious metals he is interested in are those he wants to wear around his neck in Paris 2024.
