Biography
For her, judo is pure happiness, life and fun. The tatami, on the other hand, represents her safe place, the place where she has always managed to repay her family's efforts with determination and sacrifice. She began practising this sport at the age of six, encouraged by her brother Salvatore, after having tried swimming, rhythmic gymnastics and ballet. She has two Olympic medals in her trophy cabinet: silver in Rio and bronze in Tokyo. In 2020, after a hiatus of 12 years, she propelled Italy back to the summit of European competition, and in 2023, she emerged as a pivotal figure in Doha, securing the first world championship podium of her career. In Paris 2024 she is ready to live her third Olympic experience, in which she wants to pour every last drop of sweat into taking the only metal still missing from her collection – the most prestigious one.
