Biography
He loves racing on two wheels, as demonstrated by history. From Abruzzo he moved to Bergamo as soon as he turned eighteen for a stint with Palazzago. Then, in 2016, he moved to Bardiani: it was with those colours that he won a stage of the Giro d'Italia, breaking away from everyone and taking the lead on the Apennines. In 2017, he underwent minor surgery for a heart issue, but bounced back, ready to reclaim the spotlight. In 2019 he became the first ever rider from Abruzzo to wear the yellow jersey in the Tour de France. The great French classic brought further joy in 2023, when he brought the polka-dot jersey back to Italy after several years absence. He is now aspiring to leaving a lasting impression in Paris 2024, in his second Olympics appearance.
