Biography

The daughter of former cross-country skier Guidina Dal Sasso and sister of former cyclist Paolo Longo Borghini, she began cycling at the age of nine, following in her brother's footsteps. She is the complete cyclist: she is steady on the climbs, fast in time trials and knows when to join the right breakaway, qualities that have earned her numerous podiums from 2011 to the present (in 2020 she won a world championship bronze and a European silver). The first Italian to win the Tour of Flanders (2015 and 2024), she established herself as one of the foremost stars of Italian cycling by grabbing the bronze medal in the road race at the Rio Olympic Games after coming close to the podium in the time trial. Nicknamed “Wikipedia” by her teammates because of her memory, she believes her real hidden talent is her ability to milk a cow. In Tokyo she managed to retain the Olympic bronze won in Brazil; in Paris she wants to go even further.
