Biography
Three years ago, Gennaro Alberto Di Mauro took over the spot earned by Simone Martini, who had to withdraw due to injury, bringing the Italian men's single sculls back to the Olympics after a 17-year hiatus since Matteo Stefanini Standing over two metres tall, Gennaro started his athletic journey in water polo and swimming before taking up rowing at the Scuola Canottieri Napoli. Now affiliated with the Aniene club, he made his Games debut at Tokyo 2020, where, after securing a semi-final spot for the first time in 33 years for Italy in this event, he narrowly missed advancing to the final, finishing second in the B final. Gennaro is now ready to experience new and unforgettable Olympic emotions with the eight.
