Biography
A native of the town Mandello del Lario in the province of Lecco, the birthplace of Giuseppe Moioli, who won Olympic gold in London 1948 in coxless fours and his personal role model. His whole family practised rowing and as a child he also tried it, never getting out of the boat again. The 25-year-old from the Fiamme Gialle (Sports section of the Italian police force) has won prestigious medals, the most important in 2018 with his triumph at the World Championships in quadruple sculls, 20 years after Italy’s last win. It has taken a lot of commitment, but has the joy of doing what he loves most as a job and a future yet to be written: in Tokyo 2020 he and his teammates were unable to progress beyond fifth place: in Paris the goal will be the podium.
