Biography
Sharing almost the same surname as the legendary Abbagnale brothers, Giovanni Abagnale is carving his own path in rowing, aiming to extend the Italian legacy of success. Initially drawn to basketball, his trajectory changed when a schoolteacher persuaded him to take up rowing. His life has since been defined by early mornings and relentless dedication, buoyed by a supportive and competitive national team environment. His Olympic debut came at Rio 2016, where, at just 20 years old, he won a bronze medal in the coxless pair. This achievement fuelled his enthusiasm and commitment. In 2017, he became a European champion and World silver medallist in the coxless four. Giovanni is determined to see his name in the Olympic medal table once again at Paris 2024.
