Matteo Lodo was born in Terracina, in the province of Latina, into a family with a deep passion for rowing. His cousin, Alessio Sartori, boasts three Olympic medals, including a gold in the quadruple sculls at the 2000 Sydney Games. Matteo has followed in these illustrious footsteps, winning two Olympic bronzes in the coxless four at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. His accolades also include a World and European title in the coxless pair in 2017 with his long-time partner Giuseppe Vicino. Over the years, Matteo has proven to be an invaluable asset in the development of the eight, capturing a European bronze in Munich in 2022. Off the water, Matteo enjoys spending time with his family, relaxing with music, or reading a good book. At Paris 2024, he aspires to climb even higher with the 'fabulous four'.
