Biography
Giuseppe Vicino’s love for rowing ignited at age 11, almost by chance. One morning, while accompanying his brother to a training session by the lake, he watched the boats race swiftly across the water and felt an instant spark. As a young man, several prestigious American universities offered him scholarships to row for their teams, but his stubborn and charismatic nature saw him choose to stay in Italy, driven by his determination to achieve his dreams with the national team. This decision proved rewarding; within a few years, Giuseppe made history for the Italy team by winning two Olympic bronzes, two World Championships, and a European title in both the coxless four and coxless pair. His sporting idols are American swimmer Michael Phelps and British rower Steve Redgrave, who won gold in five consecutive Olympic Games from 1986 to 2000. As a child, Giuseppe harboured a deep passion for motorsport and Ferrari, aspiring to become a mechanical engineer. Now, his ultimate dream is to compete at Paris 2024.
