Biography
Matteo Cicinelli started swimming at the age of six. In the pool he began to show his talent and so they advised him to introduce the other four sports as well: first running and shooting and then riding and fencing. Under the mentorship of coach Ivan Lo Giudice since the early days, Matteo developed both as an athlete and into a mature individual, enabling him to compete at the highest levels. At the individual level, his best youth results are two bronze medals: one at the European Youth Championships in Prague in 2015 and the other at the Junior World Championships in Hungary in 2017. Also in 2015, he made his official debut on the major circuit, carving out a prominent name for himself especially in the World Cup. Here he achieved his best finish in Ankara in April 2024 (fourth place), a season in which he was in the top section of the world rankings. The Olympics is the dream par excellence of any athlete and Cicinelli will leave no stone unturned in his preparations for Paris 2024.
