Biography
Talented, determined and driven by overwhelming passion, Matteo won bronze in the coxed four at the U23 World Championships in Sarasota, Florida, in 2019. This was the redemption he had been waiting for for three years: since 2016 in the Netherlands, where his oar got caught underwater, depriving his junior coxless four of a potential world medal. As he advanced, he transitioned to the eight, with which he narrowly missed European medals twice, first in Poland in 2020 and then in Hungary in 2024, the Olympic year. However, he didn’t miss his Olympic date: at the Final Olympic Qualification Regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland, his boat claimed second place, securing the much-coveted berth for Paris 2024.
