Biography
Savita Russo is the daughter of Salvatore Russo, a versatile athlete and former Serie A handball player who is now a coach. Her passion for judo began at age seven when she accompanied a friend to training. Born in the province of Ragusa, she was discovered by coach Maurizio Pelligra and grew up on the tatami at the Ecodep Koizumi club. With abundant talent and determination, she won a bronze medal at the Cadet World Championships in 2022, followed by a junior European title in the Netherlands the next year. In spring 2024, she clinched another bronze at the European Championships in Zagreb, setting the stage for a promising senior career. When not training or competing, she enjoys relaxing under the Sicilian sun and has a deep appreciation for Japanese culture, the birthplace of her sport. At 19, she heads to Paris with a suitcase full of dreams.
