Biography
It runs in the family: father Giorgio was champion and world record holder in the 200 metres freestyle and mother Tanya Vannini was also a style specialist. Consequently, both he and his siblings Matteo and Noemi are swimmers. He studies languages at the Catholic University of Brescia. Winner of a European gold and silver medal at the Rome 2022 European event, his Olympic dream was ruined by Covid, which forced him to skip the Italian Championships to qualify for Tokyo 2020. Patience, hard work, and determination led him to redemption at the first opportunity: at the World Championships in Doha 2024, he grabbed the Olympic pass in the 4x100 mixed medley. And now, finally, in Paris he will make his much-desired Olympic debut.
