Biography
At the age of six, she started swimming competitively, learning from an early age how to reconcile sport, study and friendships. In eighth grade she attended a water polo match of her older brother and it was love at first sight. Energetic and of imposing size, she is one of the stars of Ekipe Orizzonte Catania and in the national team she grew up under the protective wing of champions of the calibre of Tania Di Mario and Martina Miceli, now respectively president and coach of her current team. Her idol is Giusi Malato, a centre back like herself and one of the strongest players in the world in that role. She is one of the veterans of the Setterosa, of which she is captain and with which over the years she has managed to win a European bronze and a world bronze. It is the disappointments, however, that give her new stimulus to react and keep fighting, above all the exclusion from the Italian team in Rio 2016 and the failure to qualify for Tokyo 2020. She considers the Games to be the best period, even if only as a spectator. Now in Paris 2024 she is ready to experience them as a protagonist.
