Biography

A passion for shooting is in his DNA. As a child, on holiday in Sicily, he loved shooting cans at the fairground. Later his father – also a police officer – took him to the shooting range for the first time. However, given the choice of the pistol and the rifle, he opted for the latter, which was more fun and less demanding on the arm. He achieved his first major result wearing the national team jersey at the Junior European Championships in Wroclaw (Poland) in 2020, where he won bronze in 10-metre rifle team event and finished fifth in the individual competition. In 2021, he added an individual gold and team bronze at the Junior European Championships in Slovenia to his trophy cabinet. Another bronze, in mixed team rifle, came at the Junior World Championships in Lima (Peru). The breakthrough came in 2022. At the World Championship stage in Cairo (Egypt), making his senior debut, he took first place in 10-metre rifle, but the North African capital also brought success at the World Championships in mid-October. Thanks to his silver medal in 10-metre rifle, he won one of the four Olympic quotas up for grabs for the Paris 2024 Games, then bronze in mixed team at the European Games in Tallinn 2023 and gold in 10-metre rifle at the European Games in Krakow 2023.
