Biography
As a child, he played tennis but, after only two years, decided to quit. In his first year of middle school, he was introduced to badminton and, being the only one in his class able to hit the shuttlecock, he became passionate about it. With a stay-at-home mother and a father who worked as a foreman, humility and sacrifice represent his added values, both on the court and in life. His other assets are athletic energy and coordination, which he has managed to perfect, thanks in part to boxing training, his second great passion. His sources of inspiration are the Chinese player Lin Dan, a left-hander like himself, and the Irish fighter Conor McGregor, whose attitude and thirst for victory he admires. With a diploma from a social and healthcare school, he particularly appreciates good cuisine and, after a success, he likes to celebrate by eating a spicy salami pizza or a nice plate of lasagna with ragù sauce. After accumulating titles at the youth level and also winning the team gold at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, in Paris 2024 he holds Italy's first-ever Olympic berth in men's singles.
