Biography
Born in Dodoma to a Tanzanian mother and an Italian father. At the age of five, he moved permanently to Rome and, after swimming until middle school, began dedicating himself solely to athletics at the Army facility located in the Cecchignola neighbourhood. He excelled particularly in the 60m and 110m hurdles. In the shorter distance, he became the outright Italian record holder, improving four times prior to the 7.43 he set in the final of the 2024 World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, where he won the silver medal. In the longer event, between 2021 and 2023 he won bronze and another silver at the European U20 and U23 Championships, respectively. In June 2024 at the European Championships in Rome, he won the gold and stopped the clock at 13.05 in the final, bettering his own Italian record set in both the semifinal (13.20) and a few days earlier at the Nancy meeting (13.21). A graduate of a scientific high school with a focus on applied sciences, he studies Sports Movement Science at university and is a great basketball enthusiast. A fan of 'One Piece', on social media he is nicknamed 'Monkey D. Lollo' and, like the protagonist of the famous manga series, his goal is to 'become the King of the Pirates': the route to his 'treasure' is well known and leads directly to Paris.
