Biography
With a Nigerian mother and a Ghanaian father, Chituru was raised in Albate, a district to the south of Como, under the care of the Mottin family. As a child, he dedicated himself to football, until he started to have too many injuries as he grew. He tried athletics early on, too, competing in both hurdles and jumps. In 2019, he put himself on the map in the 110 hurdles, reaching the final at the European U23 Championships. After the 2020 lockdown, Chituru concentrated on sprinting, lowering his 100m time to 10.12 seconds within two years. Despite being hindered by injuries in 2023, he has made a strong comeback in 2024, claiming a silver medal at the European Championships in Rome and registering 9.96 seconds at the Turku Continental Tour Gold to secure his ticket to the Olympic Games. A technical high school graduate in administration, finance, and marketing, Chituru enjoys various music genres and martial arts. His back tattoo of roots growing into wings symbolizes his family and surname (‘ali’ is Italian for ‘wings’). Ready for his Olympic debut in Paris, Chituru is poised to soar to new heights.
