Biography
Athletics unites the whole family: her father-coach Giuliano is a former Italian middle-distance champion and her mother Jahwara has a past on the Moroccan tracks. She grew up in Cavareno, Val di Non, training in Cles and on the dirt paths through the woods. After obtaining her scientific high school diploma, she went to Trento to attend the degree course in Building Engineering and Architecture. In her free time, she enjoys listening to hardstyle music and loves reading novels. She quickly established herself as an all-round runner and can boast an enviable record in cross-country, road running, mountain running and track events. She did not falter in her Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020, where she forcefully secured a place in the 5,000m final and established herself as the second-best Italian ever with a seventh-place finish (her time of 14:46.29 had not been seen in Italy since 1997). In 2024, she put her signature on a double gold at the European Championships in Rome, setting new national records in both the 5,000m (14:35.29) and the 10,000m (30:51.32). Motivated and hungry, in Paris she wants to give everything she has, and more, to be able to relive the emotions she felt three years ago in Japan.
