Biography
His is a family devoted to athletics. His grandfather Giacomo ran the 100m in 10.9 seconds in the post-war period, while his father Salvino, a Sardinian sprinter who moved to Lombardy, achieved excellent results first as a youth and then as a senior. His older brother Giacomo is also a former national team member across various age groups. Filippo has always lived an outdoor life and, after building a rich sporting intelligence through basketball, swimming, skiing and football, at 13 he decided to focus solely on the track. A talented sprinter with a natural propensity for excelling in the final stages of a race, in 2018 he became the first Italian ever to break the 10-second barrier in the 100m (9.99). At the 2019 World Championships in Doha, he brought Italy back to a world final in the 'blue-ribbon event' after 32 years, finishing seventh. A quiet and calm young man in his private life, he holds a scientific high school diploma and is a student of Business and Management at Luiss University. A gold medallist in the 4x100m at the 2024 European Championships in Rome, in Paris he wants to revive the magic and emotions of Tokyo 2020 for all Italians, where, as the anchor leg, he delivered the Olympic gold medal in the relay to our country.
